Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: Are we going to have to study?

A: No. Studying and learning are not the same thing. Learning is something we do throughout our lives. At La Lucena, playing, exploring and learning are the same thing. When we play and learn, we study less!

Q: What will we eat?

A: Delicious, healthy and recognizable food! We want you to feel at home (and not in a restaurant!). Our cooks already have an international reputation!

Q: Are there poisonous snakes?

A: Unfortunately there are very few. The widespread fear of wildlife has a huge impact on snakes. The reality is that encounters are extremely rare and there have been no recorded bites in the area in over 50 years. Believe me, you will be much safer here than crossing the streets in the city. Anyway, we are extremely careful.

Q: Where will we sleep? What are the bathrooms and showers like?

A: You will sleep in dorms for boys or girls, on a Tatami floor, a mattress and in your sleeping bags. The showers are Club-like with individual stalls and shower curtains. The bathrooms have toilets, mirrors and running water!

Q: Can I bring my personal computer music / cell / ball / computer games?

A: The idea is to leave your "toys" at home. You'll have a lot of things to do here. When you travel, you should be open to doing different things and using time in new ways. The toys will be a distraction...

Q: So what things should I bring to La Lucena?

A: Just go by the list of clothing and equipment the trip organizer gives you. You'll also find a list to guide you in this section.

Q: Do I need to buy clothes and new equipment for this trip?

A: Not at all! What you do not have, we borrow from a friend.

Q: My Dad has a sleeping bag he used when he was young. Can I use it?

A: Probably not. Check your sleeping bag for the following: Zips in good condition that open at both ends. The Loft (thickness) should be good and the bag should feel spongy. The bag should be taller than you! Try it out at home. If you have any doubts, bring an extra blanket.

Q: Can you drink the water at La Lucena?

A: Yes, of course. The drinking water is perfectly safe.

Q: How big should the backpack be?

A: It should carry 1 liter of water, fruit, your copybook and a warm coat and / or rain gear.

Q: What do you mean by "wettable” shoes?

A: Flip flops are no good! You should bring footwear that you can wet. Remember that our forests have lots of thorns. Bring shoes that have thick souls! (The All Star type are no good!)

Q: Are the walks very long?

A: The idea is that anyone can do the activities at La Lucena. Hikes take us to our different “classrooms” which are not far away at all.
